Nichols woman allegedly assaults husband, threatens son with ice

NICHOLS, SC (WMBF) A Nichols woman has been charged with criminal domestic violence after assaulting her husband, in what he says is nightly ritual.

Officers responded to a home in the Nichols area Monday evening to a reported domestic dispute. The victim told police his wife, who was known to have a mental disorder but had refused treatment, had gone into their son's room and threatened to throw ice in his face.

When the victim decided to go to bed, his wife became very angry and wouldn't allow them to sleep in the same room together. The wife, the police report stated, removed the victim's alarm clock and cell phone charger and threw them in the living room. The victim stated his wife them struck him the chest several times and returned to their bedroom and locked the door.

The victim told his wife he had no intention of calling the police, but just wanted to go to bed in their bedroom. The wife said she would call police and tell them she feared for her life.

The victim informed police upon their arrival of his wife's mental issues, and that she thinks he and his son have cameras installed throughout their house to watch her. The victim did not want his wife arrested, the report stated.

Officers observed the redness and scratches on the victim, and were informed by the victim and his son about the frequency of this sort of behavior.

The wife, Cynthia Brown Strickland, was arrested and charged with criminal domestic violence. Brown is in custody at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
