MURRELLS INLET, SC (WMBF) Happy K9 Academy's Grand Opening Celebration is Saturday, Sept. 1, from 11a.m. until 2 p.m. on 378 Sea Marsh Road

The event is in celebration of the launch of Happy K9 Academy's Sports and Agility Fitness Center.

Food, fun, prizes and entertainment will be included as well as actual demonstrations of agility, obedience and tricks. Participants will also receive 15% off their purchase of treats, toys, harnesses, leashes, etc.

Excessive heat watch in effect

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) An EXCESSIVE HEAT WATCH will be in effect in the Grand Strand and Pee Dee Friday and Saturday. The heat index is forecasted to rise to 107 to 112.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued an excessive heat watch which is in effect from Friday afternoon through Saturday afternoon.

The combination of humidity and heat will create heat index values between 102 and 107 degress Friday and between 105 and 122 degrees Saturday afternoon.

Adoptable dogs still available at Darlington Co. Rescue

DARLINGTON, SC (WMBF) The Darlington County Humane Society Rescue has several animals on the put to sleep list for Wednesday that are adoptable.

These animals must be adopted by 9 p.m. Tuesday night. You can see photos and videos of these animals on their Facebook page or on their website. You can contact them at 843-398-4402.

The Humane Society is located on Animal Control Lane in Darlington.

Residents concerned about stray dogs in Marion

MARION, SC (WMBF) Man's best friend is not being so friendly in the city of Marion right now. Residents are growing increasingly concerned after a woman says two dogs attacked her car, biting pieces of it right off.
