Pleasant Grove YWA's to host a youth fundraiser

Pastor A. C. Robinson and the Young Woman’s Auxiliary (YWA) of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Marion will host a youth fundraiser this coming Saturday.

Family Focus Dinner, with donations, is $5 for children and $10 for adults on Saturday, July 28 at 6 p.m. at the ACR Family Resource Center.

The guest messenger will be Rev. Carrie F. Simmons of The Father’s House Outreach Ministry in Florence.

Please come in casual attire and also you’re welcome to bring a friend.

The Hidden Gem of the Pee Dee

MULLINS, SC (WMBF) – The WMBF News Team has seen a lot during their time in Marion County this week and met so many great people. Storm Team Chief Meteorologist Rob Hatchell even grew up in our parts and wishes he’d known about one of the true hidden gems right in the Pee Dee when he was a kid.

“I want to welcome you to Fort Wretch Wildlife Refuge,” Frank Oliver, Senior Vice President of Wildlife Education at Wildlife Action, Inc. announces. “This is a property owned and managed by Wildlife Action, Incorporated. We are a 34-year-old conservation and education organization. We’re headquartered out of Millins, South Carolina, but we have chapters in eight southeastern states.”

The history of Mt. Olive Baptist Church

MULLINS, SC (WMBF) – In Mullins, one particular church boasts pews handcrafted in the mid-1920s, red brick, large windows and even more breathtaking history.

Mt. Olive Baptist Church was built in 1882, just10 years after the city of Mullins was incorporated. It was started by 16 people, and originally bore the name "Nazarene Baptist Church.

Stop by for lunch at Webster Manor

MULLINS, SC (WMBF) – While some sites and sounds may bring people from miles around, there’s never any doubt good food will do the trick every time.

Webster Manor, in the heart of Mullins and right in the middle of town, is a quaint bed and breakfast and the home of parties and receptions. And lunch at the Webster Manor is said to be unbelievable.

MARION, SC (WMBF) – There’s a fine line between preserving the historic charm of Marion and the economic growth. It’s a battle visionaries of the area say they face every day.

In a fact paced world, the City of Marion offers a breath of fresh air. Several groups, including Main Street Marion, have been tirelessly working to upgrade the look without losing the character and the history.
